Dog Training During a Pandemic

Depending on where you are right now, you’re probably facing some degree of “lock down.” You may or may not be allowed to take your dogs for walks, to dog parks, or for training. Your dog might be getting restless just like you are.

At the same time, you might have extra time on your hands and this could be an excellent opportunity to train your dog some new behaviors (whether those are things you’ve been meaning to train for a long while or simply some new fun tricks).

Fortunately, many really great dog trainers have pivoted with the times and are now offering their high-quality training services to their clients using modern technology. Most of us have cameras with us every moment of the day (in our phones). You can use those cameras to show your dog trainer the problem you’re having and your trainer can demonstrate how to train to solve that problem. The trainer can then coach you to increase the efficiency of your training.

And there’s a side benefit - you can now pick the trainer based on their qualifications and not just their location.

So, ask around and approach that trainer you’d work with if they only lived nearer.

I’ve recommended trainers in Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Connecticut and elsewhere. And, of course, I’m happy to help you myself.

Some trainers are conducting live group classes, some are doing one-on-one sessions, and others are offering pre-recorded courses. There are different advantages of each. For a list of highly-qualified dog trainers providing those services, check out this link or contact me.

For ideas about helping your bored dog be less bored, check out the Facebook Group called Canine Enrichment.

Please feel free to contact me with your training needs. A pandemic might be the perfect time to train your dog!

We truly are in this together.
